Are CBD and Hemp the Same?

While both come from the same cannabis plant, they are not the same thing. CBD oil comes from the flowers, leaves, and stems of the plant, while hemp comes from the seeds. As someone that deals a lot in both CBD and hemp, we wanted to take some time to talk about the two, their differences, and why some people choose one over the other.

What Exactly is CBD?

CBD oil is a cannabinoid that comes from the cannabis plant. It can be smoked, ingested, or applied to the skin, and many Americans use it to help them deal with pain. CBD oil does not contain much THC, the active chemical that causes one to “trip” when smoking cannabis. If your body has been feeling sore, you could benefit from using CBD oil.

What Exactly is Hemp?

Thomas Jefferson grew hemp, as did the ancient Egyptians. Hemp has been used by humans for thousands of years and can be used for anything from medicine to rope. Hemp varies depending on the strand, but like CBD, Hemp also typically has extremely low levels of THC. If you’ve ever smoked cannabis, using Hemp or CBD oil is a totally different experience, aimed primarily at alleviating pain.

Should I Choose CBD or Hemp?

If you’ve never used CBD or hemp before, then you may not know which one may be better for you. This is something you can discuss with your local CBD/hemp distributor and your personal doctor. By speaking with both you can get the pros and cons of both, and figure out which one will be better for you and your body.
