How to Safely Consume Marijuana Edibles

Many who consume cannabis choose to do so with edibles, and for good reason. Not only do you avoid damaging your lungs, but the effects of edibles tend to last longer than the effects received when smoked. Having said that, the high you feel with an edible can be much more intense. We’ve heard stories of people eating edibles and panicking, and don’t want that to happen to you, which is why we wanted to talk about how you can safely consume edibles.

Drink Lots of Water

Sometimes if you get too high, you may forget to drink water, but this is a grave mistake. Failing to drink water is what will give you hangover-type effects and can contribute to the feeling of “cottonmouth” commonly felt when high. If you drink water while enjoying your high, you can avoid headaches, muscle fatigue, and many of the other side effects that accompany dehydration.

Be Prepared for the Intense High

We already mentioned it, but this is a point we want to hit home. The high you’ll experience from an edible is much more intense than the one felt from smoking. This means you need to be prepared to feel an intense high for a good amount of time, so you should get everything you need to get done before eating your edibles.

Do Not Mix Cannabis with Other Drugs

When consuming cannabis, we recommend you do not consume any other kinds of drugs, including alcohol. Marijuana is a depressant, so mixing it with alcohol can create a double depressant effect. Different drugs interact with one another differently, and mixing them can create negative side effects.
